Hey! Listen and speak. Catalan oral course

The Consortium for Language Normalisation (CPNL) and the Secretariat of Language Policy have created the oral Catalan class called Ep! Escolta i Parla.

This course is targeted at illiterate adults with little schooling with the goal of allowing them to meet their basic everyday needs in Catalan.

The course is organised into three modules lasting 45 hours each and works on nine topics related to everyday life. Based on audiovisual materials with virtually no written support, the students learn the language by speaking it and practising it with methodologies that use play, the emotions, participation and body movement to lead to meaningful, communicative learning.

The Consortium for Language Normalisation has professionals that are specially trained to work with these materials and this methodology.

The goal is for the learners who take all three modules in this class to have an oral competence level similar to that of students who have completed level A2 within the EU's Common Framework of Reference. Having taken this course, it will be decided on a case by case basis whether the learner should continue by taking a CPNL class in its Adult School in their town or practising conversation with the help of the Language Volunteers programme.
